Why a Licensed Coach?

For the fishery managers, local authorities, water authorities, the leisure and tourist industry and the other interested parties, coach licensing provides an assurance that the holder is qualified, and has received appropriate professional development to allow him/her to work safely with children and adults. The licensing procedure also ensures that the coach is adequately insured.

For members of the public, coach licensing is a kite marked assurance that the coach is qualified at a specified level to teach angling and the associated skills. The coach has received 'Good Practice in Child Protection Training', holds a valid first aid certificate, and his or her skills have been endorsed by the governing bodies.

The Angling Development Board is committed to working with all of the bodies associated with angling to ensure that only coaches holding a valid licence will be allowed to operate within the Sport.
